JCB delivers a range of earthmoving and excavation services across South East Queensland. Our clients include mining companies, government utilities, local councils and private landholders. We pride ourselves on being able to deliver exactly what our clients request - on time and on budget.
Our reputation is built on 32 years of solid performance working on major projects with highly regarded industry specialists including geologists, engineers and surveyors. We maintain specialist equipment to tackle any size project and offer highly skilled operators with current industry accreditations to drive productivity and deliver commercial results.
We have the capacity to provide personnel and equipment to support projects in the following sectors:
At the start of any project you need to get the basics right. Otherwise you are playing catch up and costs can blow out of control. Get off to a great start by working with JCB to clear your site and deal with any potentially problematic issues. With over 32 years’ experience and a range of specialised equipment at our disposal we can get the job done quickly and efficiently so your development gets off to a good start. Need a swamp dozer for boggy areas or a long reach excavator? We have them available.
At JCB we take our environmental credentials seriously and have invested in equipment that enables us to mulch or chip cleared vegetation. With this technology we create landscaping products that can be made and reused onsite to stabilise exposed soils once the initial ground works have been completed.
Before we commence any job we ensure that standard searches, such as dial-before-you-dig, have been performed. We also make sure that government requirements will be fulfilled by engaging specialist spotter-catchers to ensure any native fauna is captured and relocated to suitable habitats.
If you have land that needs to be cleared or green waste that could be turned into useful mulch then contact us and let’s get started.
JCB provide a range of general earthmoving and excavating services to government, corporate and private clients. We work with clients wanting to construct driveways, foundation pads, dams and all sorts of structures. With our specialist know-how and equipment we can tackle any project presented to us. For instance, shaping and contouring development sites prior to initial building works is a key service we provide to property developers. Our recent work with Investa Developments saw JCB prepare two 60 hectare blocks for the new Swanbank Enterprise Park.
We also assist with the preparation of foundation pads for sheds and other amenities on newly cleared sites. Asked to help out at the RAAF Base at Amberley, JCB supplied decomposed granite base to form the foundation pad for an Airmen’s mess and accommodation blocks. We have also just completed a number of retaining structures for Ipswich City Council to improve a railway line bridge abutment for safety.
With access to our own quarried gravels and road base we can supply materials to site very cost effectively. This saves builders and construction crews time and gets the job done quicker. This streamlined approach is just one of the reasons clients keep coming back to JCB for earthmoving services.
JCB have been assisting mine operators to establish, maintain and rehabilitate mine sites for over 32 years. Our experience working with mining companies and contractors is second to none. The repeat business we receive from our major clients is a testament to our ability to understand their needs and to respond with innovative, cost effective solutions. Some of our recent projects include:
• New Acland Coal Mine
• Jeebropilly Coal Mine
• Ebenezer Coal Mine
Whether you are at an establishment or pre-stripping stage, or requiring dam construction for tailings management, JCB can provide the right equipment and operators to your project. Be confident in knowing that our team are all fully accredited for the construction and mining industry and have completed the necessary inductions to work safely and effectively on your site.
Our expertise also extends to highly specialised fields such as managing sponcom piles at storage sites. Temperatures in these piles can be extreme and JCB have the right equipment and skilled operators to safely defuse these hazardous situations.
We also provide ongoing maintenance at mine sites to ensure drains are regularly cleared and sediments removed so that wash plants have clean water and remain operational and productive. This maintenance also extends to monitoring and remediating dams and flood levees to ensure environmental runoff is controlled and does not impact on local waterways. If you need a reliable maintenance team talk to us.
JCB owns quarries and crushing plants which enable it to supply a range of construction products to site in a cost effective and timely manner. This enables us to pass on considerable savings to our clients and speeds up project completion times. We also supply crushing plants to a number of local council pits enabling them to meet their growing demand for gravel and road base materials.
We have the capability to provide ripping and pushing services to win product from local sources. Our crushing plants can then be used onsite to process bulk gravel stockpiles required for projects. We also handle quarried rock which can be processed through our screening plant into stemming and road base, as well as a range of other graded products. As we say, don’t buy it when you can make your own for half the cost.
The construction of small scale roads and general road maintenance are services JCB provide to a range of clients. Working with mine operators we construct access roads to sites and link work areas with facilities and transport hubs. We assist private landholders with affordable driveways, even in difficult terrain. For local councils we repair road shoulders and flood damaged roads.
JCB are now a preferred supplier to RoadTek supporting the ongoing maintenance of Queensland’s road and bridge network. We are currently working for RoadTek in the Lockyer Valley repairing flood damaged roads at Mt Sylvia. With access to our own quarries and crushing plants we are able to supply road base to projects cost effectively which speeds up the completion time frame.
There’s no denying that in a country as dry as Australia water is our most precious asset. It needs to be managed and conserved. Controlling the movement of water across the landscape is a skill that takes time to acquire. With over 32 years’ experience the owner of JCB, John Beaumont, has certainly gained this skill and he is sought out by industry professionals on a regular basis for advice on dam and levee construction.
John’s expertise is based on construction of referable dams and levees which are implemented to manage mine tailings, raw water and sedimentation processes. The largest dam John has built to date was a 475,000 cubic metre dam for a mining project. The dams and levees built by JCB meet or exceed rigorous industry standards and contribute to more productive worksites, healthy waterways and a cleaner environment.
Severe flooding has been an issue in South East Queensland in recent years and JCB are heavily involved in repairing damaged infrastructure. Our experience in flood mitigation stretches back much further though. We have over 32 years’ experience in this field and have worked with Toowoomba, Ipswich, Lockyer, Somerset and Brisbane Councils on minimising the risk to their communities from flood.
Working with Ipswich and Brisbane City Councils we were first on the scene after the 2011 floods to clear extensive debris along the Bremer and Brisbane Rivers. We chipped and mulched debris and removed damaged infrastructure. We repaired a number of community parklands and have begun building referable dams and levees to manage future flooding events. We assisted Toowoomba Council to crush over 300,000 tonnes of gravel for local road repairs and provided equipment and expertise to Lockyer and Somerset Councils for a range of flood repair projects. In partnership with SEQ Water we also repaired a major landslip at Little Nerang Dam caused by flooding.
Mine sites are particularly susceptible to flooding and we have completed a number of levees and dams around coals mines west of Brisbane to ensure they are protected against future flooding. In developing our flood mitigation strategies we consult with experts in this field, such as Brian Walford from Parsons Brinckerhoff Consulting Engineers and Tony Loveday of Opus International Consultants.
Be proactive and talk to us about minimising the risk of flooding in your community.
Development of modern mine sites requires rehabilitation of the site at the completion of mining. As part of this process JCB work with mine operators from the outset of the project to develop a full schedule of works including stripping the top soil so it can be stored safely and utilised in the subsequent rehabilitation of the site. Replacing soils and local vegetation is a key step in restoring biodiversity to a site.
At the completion of mining activities JCB work with mine operators to implement rehabilitation programs which incorporate innovative techniques such as pasture improvement. At Jeebropilly west of Ipswich, for example, JCB restored a coal mine to useable pasture for grazing cattle. This process involved contouring the mine site and constructing dams and levees to manage water flows. The original top soil was then tested and seeded with pasture mix and organic fertilisers. The site is now rehabilitated with the value added benefit of being prime grazing pasture for cattle. The site was also improved with areas of native vegetation providing wind breaks and wildlife habitat.
The rehabilitation of mining and construction sites can often require ongoing maintenance as landfill settles. In this instance JCB identify areas of subsidence and effect remediation works to improve the usability of the land. The management and rehabilitation of tailings dams is an area where JCB have extensive experience. Talk to us about a rehabilitation program that restores diversity and contributes to cleaner and safer communities.
Working with local councils to construct sporting grounds and parklands is a job we love doing. It’s great to see families and clubs enjoying these facilities and we take pride in creating interesting environments. One of our notable projects was the development of Nerima Gardens in Ipswich. This involved the construction of staged waterfalls, ponds and rock features for a Japanese style garden.
With floods sweeping through South East Queensland in 2010 and 2011 many community facilities were damaged. JCB was immediately active in clearing flood debris and damaged infrastructure, as well as restoring parks and sporting grounds to a useable state.
